Hurricane Irene floods our Hoboken Rehearsal Studio
Looks like we need to find a new home (and some replacement gear). We managed to salvage alot of stuff - most of our primary amps and guitars were hoisted, or removed pre storm - but, as you can see, we couldn’t protect everything. It was truly heartbreaking to return to the space yesterday and find it in this state. At its highest point the water reached 3 feet. It was still about a foot deep in there yesterday when we arrived. Guitar Player Jamie and I removed everything we could that was still dry, while Drummer Matt carried out his soggy drum kit piece by piece (fortunately, it looks like he got to it in time). The biggest tragedy was our buddy Mike, who had hoisted his amps on top of his Leslie speaker. At some point the Leslie started floating and tipped over tossing his Ampeg Jet and Fender Twin into the water. We found them floating face down. Several of our monitors suffered a similar fate. The whole space continues to be pumped out as we speak… a tragic end to a good run. Farewell practice space!
